OPALS is a cooperatively developed, Web-based, open source automated library system that provides Internet access to information databases and library collections.

The opening screen for OPALS can be edited by changing the logo, name and slogan message in Administration> Preferences> System Preferences.

New Items

To Find New Items:

Select Home> New Items from the main menu.
Select the period of time that you want to find New Items. Choices are 30, 60 or 90 Days, 6 or 12 Months.

To Add Items to the new item list

New Items are added to the list by using the Item Acquisitions report. You will be able to choose how long you wish the items to be available for display.

Library Hours

This Home tab menu option displays the opening and closing times and library days of closure.

To set up the hours that the page displays, select >Administration >Preferences >Closing Dates Editor from the Main Menu.

News / Events

News / Events will allow you to post on line any information important to the library.

Add or edit information to the page by selecting News/Events List Editor from the Administration >Preferences menu.
URLs (clickable Internet links) can be added to the page by placing "http://" before the URL. Or simply cut and past the URL of your chosen site into the News / Events editor.

Web Links

The Main Menu selection called Web Links has been updated.

The first thing you will notice, is that Web Links has been moved from a main menu selection into the Home tab of the main menu.
The next improvement, is that OPALS librarys may place any website that they wish in the list. To set up your new Web Links go to Administration >Preferences from the main menu, then select Web Links List Editor.
